Department of Physics
Physics is a natural science and gives us knowledge of nature. It studies matter, its motion and behavior through space and time.Physics is one of the most fundamental disciplines and its main goal is to understand how the universe behaves.Over the past two millennia Physics was a part of natural philosophy, but during the scientific revolution in17th Century it emerged as unique discipline.
Advances in physics often enable advances in new technologie. For instance advances in the understanding of electromagnetism, solide state physics and nuclear physics led directly to the invention of new product like television , computer , domestic appliance, nuclear weapon etc. Advances in thermodynamics led to invention of engine and the development of industrialization and advance in mechanics inspired the development of calculus. In modern age Physics is also contributing to the medical science, specially in imaging the human body organs and in treating the most incurable disease like Cance.
